- The Rector appoints a working group to update the specific response plan for disease outbreaks.

- The levels of response are based on the preparedness levels of Civil Protection:
- Uncertainty phase

- Updates the University of Iceland’s response plan for disease outbreaks and adapts it to the current situation.
- The group includes:
- Chair of the Safety Committee, who chairs the group.
- Academic specialist with knowledge of the disease in question or related diseases.
- Representative of the Division of Human Resources.
- Representative of the Division of Facilities and Technical Services.
- Representative of the Division of Marketing and Communications.
- Safety Project Manager, who serves as secretary to the group.

- Collects information and coordinates the review of the response.
- Communication within the institution
- It is natural to share information with employees about incidents and responses, both to inform and reduce the likelihood of rumors
- Each case must be assessed whether to send out a notice and to ensure that privacy is protected
